Last nights victory punched the Matadors ticket as the only unbeaten squad in the borderland, finishing the season 9-0-1.
Next week, the sate playoffs begin and Parkland host Irvin in a tough bi-district matchup. The Rockets (6-4) will lean on its senior leadership in running back Devon Driscoll and quarterback Jesus Aguirre; in hopes to knock off the Matadors.
Despite Canutillo falling to Parkland, the Eagles will live to fight another week, for they must travel to Austin and take on the Panthers (8-2). Eric Pichardo’s Panthers have been one of El Paso’s best stories with a hard nose rushing attack and a squad that is relentless on defense.
