Riding a four game winning streak, Eastwood was quite content that they were able to host a Texas 5A Division 1 Playoff game, but they knew that it wouldn’t be easy with the Lubbock Coronado Mustangs coming to town.

Lubbock Colorado’s Kaleb Manuel was able to help the Mustangs get on the board first, after a 1 yard run the Mustangs led 7-0, with 4:51 in the 1st, then increased the lead just under 3 minutes later with a 23 yard field goal by Cooper Hamilton to make it 10-0, 1:52 left in the 1st.

Exactly 2 minutes later, Eastwood took the lead one a 31 yard an AJ Delgado 31 yard catch from Martinez, and after the Estéban Holguín PAT, the Troopers took their only lead of the game, 13-10.

In the 2nd half, Eastwood received and marched down the field, capped off by a Martinez 22 yard pass play to Sam Lopez, making it was 30-20. Then Coronado responded with a 3 yard catch by Cory Ferreira from Robertson, to widen the lead again, 37-20 at the 7:16 mark of the 3rd. Then, theyquickly got the ball back, and it only took them :27 seconds to make it a 4 score game, as Coronado lead 44-20.

Eastwood wasted no time as they increased their sense of urgency and Martinez found Ryan Gonzales in the end zone from 26 yards out, and then he hit Gonzales for the 2 point conversion, making it 44-28.
After a very short kick off, the Mustangs had a short field to work with and it ended on a 27 yard field goal by Hamilton, however, Eastwood was able to move it right away, and just under :12 left in the 3rd, Xavier Galindo from 4 yards, scored on an untouched. The Troop attempted to go for 2, but the pass was incomplete, and after 3, it was Mustangs 47, Troopers 34.

To start the final quarter, Lopez caught a 25 yard pass from Martinez, narrowing the gap to 47-41 and a one score game, but Coronado had enough, Roberston scampered 2 yard on the left side for the touchdown, making the final score: Lubbock Coronado 54, Eastwood 41.

Sawyer Robertson was named the Speaking Rock Player Of The Game, as he was 19 of 35 for 373 yards and 5 touchdown passes, and even ran 1 in as well.
The 3rd seeded Mustangs (7-4) advance in the playoffs and will meet up with Denton Ryan, next week.

The 2nd seeded Eastwood Troopers’ season comes to an ending (5-6), after the drama this team has gone through, they came back, made some noise, earned 2nd in their district, and will be a force to reckon with next year for sure.
