EL PASO, Texas – The Ysleta Indians came into Week Two looking to continue their dominant offensive attack. And continue it they did by defeating the El Paso High Tigers 56-14
Ysleta began scoring quickly and often in the first quarter when quarterback Adrian Jaquez hit Giovanni Martinez on a 54-yard touchdown pass that made it 7-0. On their second drive, Jaquez hit Lucas Flores for a 59-yard score to get to 14-0. That was followed by a 19-yard touchdown run by Seth Ramos that put Ysleta ahead 20-0 with 3:01 left in the opening quarter
The Tigers finally got on the board when Zach Rodriguez connected with Yan Arias from 16 yards out to close with 20-7. The Indians would answer on their next offensive play when Jaquez completed a 61-yard touchdown score with Sebastian Portillo to expand their lead to 27-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Rodriguez would score on a one yard quarterback sneak for El Paso High to close out a drive that ate up more half of the second quarter. This made the score 27-14. Jaquez connected with his fourth different receiver when he found Gavin Espino from 18 yards out to get to 33-14 at the half.
Ysleta would close out the scoring with Jaquez connecting with Seth Ramos from twelve yards out, Jaquez scoring on a one yard sneak, and Dathon Loray rushing in from two yards—all in the third quarter–for the final margin of 56-14.
Jaquez finished 11 of 18 for 345 yards and five passing touchdowns, while adding a one yard rushing score to be name the Speaking Rock Player of the Game.
Ysleta improves to 2-0, while El Paso drops to 0-2.
