Jefferson Silver Foxes (1-4. 0-1) @ Austin Panthers (3-2, 0-1)

Broadcasters: Paul David Oliver and Paul Torres

Channels: Jefferson and Austin https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/el-paso-isd/

As week two of district play starts for D2 2-5A members an early season game in Central El Paso will dictate the playoff race.  Austin has playoff talent and can’t afford a slip up at home against a scrappy Jefferson team that can sneak up on the Panthers.  Austin’s defense and run game should control this one as the Panthers average more than 200 yards on the ground per game led by Kam Walker and William Rodriguez.  Jefferson fights but falls out of the early race for fourth place, and Austin continues to solidify their playoff resume.

#7 Andress Eagles (3-2, 1-0) @ Burges Mustangs (2-1-1)

Broadcasters: Alex Nicolas and Coach Tony Grijalva

Channels: Andress and Burges https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/el-paso-isd/

After this week, there’s still four games left in the season, but tonight’s game will go a long way in deciding a D2 2-5A champ.  Call it an early district title eliminator game (if you will).  Andress was the heavy D2 2-5A favorite coming into the season, but Burges has shown they are a legit contender too and will have a shot to prove that at home.  Andress has a speedy and stingy secondary that has 11 takeaways thanks to five interceptions by stud corner back Andrew Henderson who has five interceptions on the season.  Burges also has a defense with strengths and will need a big game from budding star Robert Hall.  Two well coached teams will duke it out in front of what could be a sold-out crowd in a classic battle.  This game is a tossup, hard to pick a clear winner…
