Behind the running of Isiah Witterstauter and William Rodriguez III the Austin Panthers came away victorious 40-6 over their long time rival, the El Paso High Tigers in what is the third oldest rivalry in Texas, the 89th Battle of the Claw.
It was a cold night inside historic R.E. McKee Stadium but the Austin run attack was on fire all night. Witterstauter would finish with 278 yards and 3 touchdowns and could not be stopped.
Next week Austin travels to the south side of El Paso to take on the Bowie Bears in a game of two teams that are identical in many ways. El Paso will play host to another strong running attack in the Burges Mustangs still in search of their first victory.
