With the Socorro Bulldogs trying to snap a near 40-game losing streak, they faced a tough and hungry Austin Panther team coming off a tough loss from last week.
The first quarter ended scoreless, with the Panthers controlling most of the quarter with a drive that lasted over 9 minutes. The Panthers were able to get their scoring going on the very first play of the second quarter with a 6-yard TD run from Cesar Mireles. Following a couple of turnovers, the Panthers were able to score three more times before halftime – 9-yard and 3-yard TD runs from William Rodriguez and a 17-yard TD pass from Daniel Orozco to Sergio Esparza, to put the Panthers up, 28-0 at the half
The second half was controlled by Austin’s run game, as the only other score occurred in the middle of the 3rd quarter with a 3-yard TD run by Ivan Nevarez. The game ended with the Panthers emphatically defeating the Bulldogs, 35-0.
The Panthers improved to 2-1 on the season and will host the Clint Lions next week. The Bulldogs continue their losing streak, as they drop to 0-3 on the season. They will host Burges next week.
The Speaking Rock Player of the game was William Rodriguez who ran for 132 yards and had a pair of TDs along with a 2-point conversion.
