On Senior Night from Mustang Country Stadium, the Burges Mustangs defeated the Irvin Rockets by a score of 58 to 21.

The Mustangs would drive 75 yards on 10 plays on their opening drive, capped off by a 16 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Oscar Maldonado to Devin Klaes. This would be the first of three first half connections between the two seniors who would later connect on an touchdown passes of 81 and 14 yards that would put the game away by early in the second quarter.

The Irvin Rockets answered the Burges touchdown with a 10 play drive of their own that was finished off by a touchdown from standout senior wide-receiver Joel Tarango, giving Irvin their only lead of the game at 7-6 early in the first quarter.

That lead would only last for 1 play as Devin Klaes would score on an 81 yard slant putting the Mustangs up 13-7 and they would never look back.

Burges successfully scored touchdowns on their first seven possessions, demonstrating big play abilities on long passes and long runs by sophomore running back Robert Hall. The Mustangs would not punt until late in the 3rd quarter while the he Mustang defense would force four turnovers on a fumble recovery and three interceptions one of which snagged by Devin Klaes.

Burges defensive end Michael Rainwater added multiple sacks, hurries, and tackles for losses to further frustrate the Rockets.

Up next for the Burges Mustangs will be the season finale against 4-1 Austin with the winner securing the second position in the district. Irvin will play undefeated district leader and northeast rival Andress.
