EL PASO, Texas – On a hot muggy night at Mustangs Stadium, Burges ran wild and notched five rushing touchdowns to defeat Riverside 43-7, improving to 1-1 on the season while Riverside suffer their first lost and now sits at 1-1 through the first two weeks of the regular season.
The Mustangs offense released a three headed rushing monster, in Tavorus Jones, Domonik Serna and Robert Hall who ran for two touchdowns and 103 yards rushing; but it was the dual threat quarterback Audwin Johnson who takes home the Speaking Rock player of the game. Johnson threw for more than 152 yards with one touchdown and ran for an additional 104 yards with one touchdown.
Burges stays at home next week against Eastlake for a Thursday night showdown, and Riverside will head back home to take on Fort Stockton on September 13. Both games can be heard on Town Talk Sports El Paso.
