5A bi-district playoffs: Eastwood shuts down Chapin 56-42

El Paso, Texas – The Eastwood Troopers used some stellar defense, and a balanced scoring attack to beat Chapin 56-42 Tuesday night in the Class 5A bi-district round of the UIL Texas High School Playoffs.

The Troopers held Chapin to just five points in the first quarter, and five points in the third quarter en route to their first bi-district title since the 2014-15 season and first season under head coach Peter Morales.

Chapin started the second quarter on a 7-3 run and trailed 21-18 at halftime after they bounced back from a 15-5 first quarter deficit.  Although Eastwood outscored Chapin 17-5 in the third quarter and led by as much as 19 points with five minutes left in the game.

Eastwood will now play Amarillo Palo Duro on the in the area round at 4 pm Friday in Andrews, Texas according to Eastwood head coach Peter Morales.
