SAN ELIZARIO, Texas – In a game that saw both teams combine for 27 penalties for over 300 yards, the Jefferson Silver Foxes defeated the San Elizario Eagles 24-6 at Eagle’s Stadium on Friday Night.
Both Teams worked through the first quarter trying to establish the run with no success.
The Jefferson defensive led by linebacker Carlos Macias held San Elizario Star Running Back Raymond Acevedo to less than 12 yards unofficially in the first quarter.
San Elizario returned the favor with excellent pursuit from their linebacking core as well as their defensive line.
It was not until 11:17 remaining until halftime that Jefferson would open up the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Nathan Alcala to Nicholas Rivera.
Defense would dominate for most the remainder of the first half until Alcala would connect again, this time with Senior wideout Ian White-Torres on a 65 yard slant with 45 seconds left in the half to take a 14-0 lead into the halftime break.
Jefferson would score their only touchdown of the second half on a 42 yard run by Jefferson running back Arturo Rubio with 4:46 left in the third quarter to stretch their lead. Rubio would also pick off a San Elizario pass to end a promising drive.
San Eli’s Raymond Acevedo put the Eagles on the board as he broke a 64-yard touchdown run late in the game.
Jefferson would add a late field goal and continue to shutdown the San Elizario offensive unit.
