Team (First place votes) Points Last week Outlook
#1 Parkland (3-0-1) (9) 227 #3 Our preseason #1 team returns to the top spot after winning three straight including an impressive thumping of perennial power Chapin last week.  The Mats look to continue rolling with eyes on a deep playoff run.
#2 Pebble Hills (3-1) (8) 222 #1 Pebble Hills got a taste of the playoffs in week four putting up a hard-fought effort that came up just short against San Angelo Central. The Spartans continue to their tough non-district schedule with Eastlake this week.
#3 Del Valle (2-1) 196 #4 Del Valle looked sharp and well rested as they dominated Canutillo last week.  One of the more interesting matchups this week is Del Valle paying a visit to upstart Hanks.
#4 Montwood (2-2) 169 #2 Montwood has lost two straight games to district 2-6A foes from the Permian Basin and will play their second El Paso opponent this week in a fun matchup with Eastwood.
#5 Coronado (3-1) 158 T8 For the second consecutive week, a team that was tied for 8th in the previous week jumps to #5.  Coronado has won three straight games after an OT loss to Andress in the opening week.  The T-Birds are a real threat in district 1-6A and will continue to climb.
#6 Andress (2-2) 138 #6 Andress held a 14-13 lead at halftime against 6A opponent Frienship but couldn’t close the deal in the second half.  The Eagles are the only D2 1-5A team in the poll and will host Austin to open district play this week.
#7 Ysleta (4-0) 133 #7 The buzz continues at the Reservation after a late second touchdown lifted the Indians to a 4-0 start.  Joziah Salazar is becoming a Senior all-star candidate and the Indians are looking like a playoff team.
#8 Franklin (2-2) 129 T8 Franklin continues to get things right with convincing back-to-back wins.   Developing depth is a key, and another chance to keep the streak alive happens this week with a road trip to face reeling Chapin.
