#2 Franklin Cougars (7-2, 4-0) @ Socorro Bulldogs (0-9, 0-4) 4pm
Broadcasters: Mike Tipton and Sergio Robali
Channels: Franklin and Socorro https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/el-paso-isd/
Franklin fresh off their district title clinching win last week against Pebble Hills, the Cougars look to finish district play undefeated against winless Socorro. The Bulldogs show a whole lot of life last week, leading with a minute left before halftime against Montwood last week. Franklin is red hot, and is poised to win a game or two in the playoffs.

Bel Air Highlanders (0-9, 0-4) @ Eastlake Falcons (4-5, 1-3) 7:30 pm
Broadcasters: Alex Nicolas and Coach Tony Grijalva
Channels: Eastlake and Bel Air https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/ysleta-isd/
Eastlake’s playoff path is simple. Win and they’re in. The Falcons took a tough loss last at Del Valle, and will need to bounce back on offense to secure a playoff spot. Bel Air has a small outside chance to crack a playoff spot. The Highlanders need an upset at Eastlake, then if Eastwood beats El Dorado, it would create three-way tie in which tiebreaker rules would come into factor. Eastlake’s defense has been a strong point all year, and will help the Falcons claim another playoff spot.

Canutillo Eagles (4-5, 2-2) @ #1 Parkland Matadors (8-0-1, 4-0) 7pm
Broadcasters: Abel Carrillo and Peter Carrillo
Channels: Canutillo and Parkland https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/ysleta-isd/
Parkland has the district title locked up, while Canutillo needs a win to join Parkland in the playoffs. Deion Hankins is finishing up an MVP campaign senior season along with quarterback Gabe Herrera. Canutillo will need a lights out defensive performance and a monster game from junior running back Carlos Amato to keep things close. Parkland will be fine tuning and cruising while Canutillo will be scoreboard watching for their playoff hopes.

#3 Andress Eagles (7-2, 5-0) @ Irvin Rockets (6-3, 3-2) 7pm
Broadcasters: Michael Montes and Cole Freytag
Channels: Andress and Irvin https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/el-paso-isd/
Irvin has dropped two straight games after their strong start to the season and will test rival Andress who has won five straight. Andress’ defense continues to make plays, and when they pick you off, they are looking for six going back the other way. Irvin will have to take care of the ball and limit the big play. Both will be tough to do against an Andress team that has its sights on winning few playoff games. Andress should roll with their defense leading the way.

El Dorado Aztecs (1-8, 1-3) @ #4 Eastwood Troopers (6-3, 4-0) 7pm
Broadcasters: Chris Gomez and Trey Smith
Channels: El Dorado and Eastwood https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/ysleta-isd/
Eastwood can secure the outright district title, the first since 1994 for a program on the rise in a new district. The Troop are getting done on both sides of the ball, and continue to have multiple playmakers step up on both sides. El Dorado will put this season in the rearview as David Telas gets a full offseason to start his rebuild of the Eastside School. Eastwood will play winner of the Abliene Cooper, and Amarillo High season finale in the bi-district round at home.

#5 Del Valle Conquistadores (6-2, 3-1) @ Chapin Huskies (4-5, 3-1) @ Andress 7pm
Broadcasters: Mike Tipton and Mark Mena
Channels: Del Valle and Chapin https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/ysleta-isd/
A matchup usually seen in the first round of the playoffs, is a second place battle in the new D1 1-5A. A handful of college prospects will be on display in what should be a very close, and interesting match up to end the regular season. A big matchup will be Del Valle’s well-oiled offense against a talent laden Chapin defense that has greatly improved during district play. Should come down to the final minutes in an exciting season finale.

Coronado Thunderbirds (6-3, 2-2) @ #6 Pebble Hills Spartans (5-4, 2-2) 4pm
Broadcasters: Mando “Monster” Medina and Coach Tony Grijalva
Channels: Coronado and Pebble Hills https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/el-paso-isd/
It will be a fun night at the SAC Friday as Coronado and Pebble Hills start the 1-6A elimination double header. Coronado made some key personnel adjustments last week, helping them put up a season high 50-plus points last week against Americas who beat Pebble Hills 39-21 a few weeks ago. Pebble Hills gave Franklin all they could handle last week, and might feel they should have won albeit some costly mistakes down the stretch. Whoever can limit the turnovers, and keep themselves out of third and long should win.

#7 Burges Mustangs (6-2-1, 4-1) @ #8 Austin Panthers (7-2. 4-1) 7pm
Broadcasters: Paul David Oliver and Paul Torres
Channels: Burges and Austin https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/el-paso-isd/
Second place is the one the line as Austin and Burges meet in what could be one of the best games of the night. Burges quarterback Oscar Maldonado has played great down the stretch of the season, and will face an Austin defense that is getting better each week. Big plays will decide this one, and I feel Burges has the better big play ability.

Montwood Rams (4-5, 2-2) @ Americas Trailblazers (5-4, 2-2) 7:30pm
Broadcasters: Alex Nicolas and Coach Tony Grijalva
Channels: Montwood and Americas https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/socorro-isd/
A rivalry game will decide a playoff spot in 1-6A as the nightcap of the 1-6A elimination double header should be a wild shootout. Montwood looks to build off a dynamic performance against Socorro, while Americas will look to bounce back from a surprising road loss last week which created this four way tie for three playoff spots. Montwood’s defense will try to slow down Aaron Dumas who has ran for more than 100 yards in each game this season. Montwood will need a spark on offense from versatile athlete Chris Ramos, and will need a clean game from quarterback Jason Fernandez. Should be a wild, high scoring game to end a fun season. Flip a coin for a projected winner.

Riverside Rangers (3-6, 1-3) @ Hanks Knights (4-5, 1-3) 7pm
Broadcasters: Ryan Adams and Christian Molinar
Channels: Riverside and Hanks https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/ysleta-isd/
Both teams still have long shot chances for a playoff berth, and the first step is win. Riverside has seen great improvement this year, and Hanks took a big step forward by disposing Ysleta last week. Mykal Blanco has solidified himself as a true impact player, and should make a big impact on this game. Riverside gives Hanks some early trouble, but expect another big game from Blanco.

Ysleta Indians (7-2, 2-2) @ Horizon Scorpions (4-5, 2-2) 7pm
Broadcasters: Sergio Robali and Henry Reyna
Channels: Ysleta https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/ysleta-isd/
Win and you’re in the playoffs type of game will take place in the High Desert. Both Ysleta and Horizon have developed reliable playmakers this season and will put it all the line this Friday. For Ysleta, avoiding a slow start will be key, and they will need an efficient performance from Joziah Salazar after he threw four interceptions last week against Hanks. Isaiah Quijas is an all-district candidate running back for Horizon, and is averaging 236 rushing yards per game in his last three games. Another game that will come down to the wire, Horizon notches the mild upset and makes the playoffs.

Jefferson Silver Foxes (1-8, 0-5) @ Bowie Bears (2-7, 0-5) @ Sun Bowl 6:30
Broadcasters: Shawn Murphy and Bill Coon
Channels: Bowie and Jefferson https://www.towntalksportselpaso.com/el-paso-isd/
No playoff implications in this one, but a highly anticipated battle for pride will excite fans in the Sun Bowl. Bowie leads the all-time series 38-27-2 as the series will usher in game 68 Friday. Bowie is probably the best winless team in district play and should revenge a major upset in 2017 by the Foxes. But as rivalries go, you never know what to expect.
