Panthers Outlast Eagles 51-46

With playoff implications written all over this game, both the Austin Panthers and Canutillo Eagles knew they had to bring their best game.

The Eagles jumped out to a 16-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. With a pair of threes by Christian Stackpole in the 2nd quarter, the Panthers made the game close by going into the half trailing by one, 26-25.

Coming out of the half, the Panthers took their first lead of the game, 28-27, with 7:14 in the 3rd. The quarter ended with the Eagles leading the Panthers, 37-33.

The fourth quarter began with the Panthers having their largest lead of the game – 5 points. After that, the quarter had lead changes exchanged throughout. With 19 seconds left, the Panthers had a 50-46 lead.  The Panthers kept the lead by defeating the Eagles, 51-46.  The Player of the Game was Christian Stackpole, as he ended the game with 11 points.

The Panthers play until next Friday when they travel to Burges, as they will have a bye on Tuesday. The Eagles will host the Mustangs on Tuesday.
