The Del Valle Conquistadores captured their 1stvictory of the 2019 Football Season and the 1stVictory for new Head Coach Rudy Contreras by defensively dominating the previously undefeated Canutillo Eagles by a score of 35-3 at Julius and Irene Lowenberg Eagle Stadium on Friday Night.

The Del Valle Defense effort was near perfect highlighted by Junior Linebacker Tommy Calderon who unofficially tallied 11 tackles and 3 quarterback hurries. Canutillo would get the opening kickoff and go three and out, a theme that continued throughout the entire night. Canutillo would only get a total of 4 first downs, 2 of which came from Del Valle Penalties and their only position in Del Valle Territory came on a muffed Del Valle Punt Return early in the 2ndquarter which set them up for a 27 yard field goal, their only points of the game. For the second week in a row Canutillo played without their standout Running Back Carlos Amato who is currently out for an indefinite amount of time with an injury.

Del Valle on Offense was balanced led by Quarterback Sebastian Carr who threw two touchdown passes to Gabriel Rodriguez and rushed for a Touchdown on a Quarterback sneak.  Del Valle Running Back Joel Serrano would account for all 75 yards on Del Valle’s opening position with a 6 yard gained followed by an explosive 69 yard run, the first of two touchdowns for Serrano. Del Valle methodically controlled the time of possession in large part due to an outstanding defensive effort.

Canutillo came into the undefeated outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 121 to 65 but without RB Amato could not get any type of offense going possessing the ball 12 times punting 9 times and turning the ball over once. Up next for Canutillo will be a home game against Coronado. Del Valle will play the High-powered Hanks Offense in what will be a great test for their defense.

Final Score: Del Valle Conquistadores 35 Canutillo Eagles 3
