Franklin finished their non-district schedule undefeated, after a dominant triumph over Chapin on homecoming night 42-0.

The Cougars scored in less than 13 seconds on a 94 yard opening kickoff return courtesy of wide receiver Devyn Clark.

Franklin defensive coordinator Frank Martinez logged his first shutout on the season, as James Apsey, Will Garcia and David Powers extinguished the Chapin offense.

The Speaking Rock players of the game honors go to quarterback Danny Walther and wide receiver Gabriel Stonewall; Walther threw for 269 yards with four touchdowns while Stonewall recorded 190 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

Chapin drops down to 0-5 on the season, while Franklin jumps to 5-0.

Both schools have next week off before district play begins on October 10.

  • Don’t forget the great job the Franklin O-line has been doing (Ramon Diaz, Leon Smith Jr., Patrick Baca, Alex Barreda, Jacod Romerto, James Hartshorn)…you can’t throw or run with out one!

    • Franklin has the absolute best O-line in El Paso. This is the best Franklin team I’ve seen since 2004 when Scott Grantham, Alex Torres, Blake Juarez-Downer, Clayton Byrd were terrorizing teams.
