EL PASO, Texas – The Eastlake Falcons came into Week 11 already having a share of the District 1-5A D1 championship, knowing they would be hosting Lubbock Monterey in the Bi-District round next week, but they wanted the title all to themselves.
The Bel Air Highlanders tried to put up a fight by scoring first on a 57-yard touchdown pass by Adrian Parsons to Osvaldo Hernandez making it 7-0. The Falcons would then score 28 unanswered points on passes of 19, 38 and 23 yards from Orion Olivas to Matthew Jones (19, 38) and Blas Compean; capped off by a seven yard touchdown run by Daine Kirtley.
Parsons then connected with Angel Montoya from two yards out, cutting the Falcon lead in half at 28-14. Olivas threw three more touchdown passes, four yards to Jones, 31 yards to Compean and three yards to Kirtley to get to the halftime score of 49-14.
To start the second half, Olivas connected with Jones on a 53-yard pass; Jones was held up at the two-yard line when lateral the ball back Tony Rey, who went the final three yards untouched for the score—making it 55-14. Bel Air would close out the scoring with a 51-yard touchdown run by Devyn Loray.
Olivas would be named the Speaking Rock Player of the Game after finishing 32 of 41 for 466 yards and six touchdowns.
