ANDREWS, Texas – The Canutillo Eagles could not generate enough offense, falling to Canyon Randall 35-14 in the area round of the Class 5A DII UIL Playoffs.
The Eagles found themselves down 14-0 at halftime, then a 33-yard touchdown catch from Creed Browder made 21-0 early in the third quarter.
Canutillo would answer, and made things interesting as Micah Galaviz came through with a 15-yard touchdown catch, as Canutillo trailed 21-7 with 2:08 left in the third quarter.
The Eagle defense would force a turnover, setting up a touchdown run by Caleb Rodriguez and the Eagles cut the lead to 21-14 heading into the final quarter.
But a pair of scoring drives from Randall went unanswered in the fourth quarter, and Randall ran away with an area round win.
Brayden Beck would put this one away with a 65-yard touchdown run to make it 35-14 and ended the Eagles stellar season.
Canutillo ends the 2019 season 3-3 overall, Randall will move to play Lubbock Cooper in the regional semi-final.
