The Eastlake Falcons topped the Canutillo Eagles on Friday night by a score of 17-14 at Julius & Irene Lowenburg Eagles Stadium.
It was a tough defense of battle as both teams struggled to find an offense of flow. The Falcons head coach JJ Calderon started Daine Kirtley at quarterback, but later turned to Orion Olivas, who threw for 143 yards with two touchdowns and led Eastlake in rushing with 77 yards, as he is our “Casa Nissan Player of The Game.”
Late in the fourth quarter Olivas found senior wide receiver Adrian Donacio in the endzone for the game winning 12-yard touchdown. Canutillo would drive down the field to setup a potential game tying field goal, but had it blocked by Eastlake’s sophomore defensive back Blas Compean.
Eastlake will take on Montwood next Friday at the SAC with a 7:30 game time start, whereas Canutillo stay at home and square off against Bel Air at 7:00. Both games can be heard on Towntalksportselpaso.com
